AHS & NINDS Requests Your Input

The American Headache Society (AHS) and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) request your input during the Headache Research Priorities Public Comment Period.

Purpose

This public comment period seeks broad input from scientists, clinicians, patients, families, caregivers, advocates, and the broader headache community on Headache Research Priorities. These priorities are broadly defined as the most important opportunities for headache research in the coming 5-10 years.

Background

Beginning in the fall of 2020, the AHS and NINDS have led a large and diverse group of more than 90 healthcare professionals, researchers and patient advocates to develop a set of research priorities. The priorities are intended to serve as guidance and benchmarks for the entire headache community to advance headache research by setting goals that can be achieved in the next 5-10 years.

Information Requested

The AHS and NINDS are soliciting input from all interested stakeholders, including researchers, health care providers, individuals with headache disorders, patient advocates and health advocacy organizations, scientific or professional organizations, federal agencies, as well as other interested members of the public.

The public comment period is now open and is scheduled to close on July 31, 2023. We encourage stakeholders to review all of the priorities and comment on as few or as many as each individual or organization prefers.

Comments may include input on how the draft priorities could be enhanced, new research questions that could be included, or challenges that the current priorities may face.

How to Submit a Response

To assure consideration, responses must be received by July 31, 2023 and should be submitted electronically using the web-based form accessible here.

Responses are voluntary and may even be submitted anonymously. Respondents are advised that the AHS and NIH are under no obligation to acknowledge receipt of the information received or provide feedback to respondents with respect to any information submitted. Please do not include any personally identifiable or other information that you do not wish to make public. No proprietary, classified, confidential, or sensitive information should be included in your response.
