Continuing Education

 

Purpose/Objective

At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and describe the role of physiologic structures and systems involved in migraine, cluster headache, and related primary headache conditions
  • Diagnose patients presenting with primary and secondary head pain based on data from history-taking, knowledge of diagnostic criteria, and findings from epidemiologic studies
  • Develop evidence-based treatment plans involving medications/devices, complementary and alternative medicine, and/or behavioral techniques
  • Effectively communicate with headache patients and caregivers, both in eliciting information for history taking and providing information for education
  • Remember the steps involved in conducting a clinical trial and preparing the findings for publication
  • Explain how Headache Medicine can be a rewarding career choice and a viable practice model and evaluate opportunities to enter or advance in the field
